Alberta separatist petition meets signature threshold

Elections Alberta verified nearly 223,000 signatures on a citizen‑initiated petition calling for a vote on Alberta leaving Canada, surpassing the required 177,732 signatures (10% of the 2023 provincial vote). Verification used random statistical sampling at a 95% confidence level, with a sample size of 384 and phone contact with 952 listed signers.
