Alberto Mazzeo advances council motions in Trapani
In early July, Alberto Mazzeo, president of the Trapani municipal council, set a precise timetable for two pending matters: the proposal to dismiss several councilors and a motion of no‑confidence against Mayor Giacomo Tranchida. The process stalled when the council secretary, Giovanni Panepinto, failed to forward the draft resolutions; Mazzeo’s office requested his signature on meeting minutes before the documents could be completed. By mid‑July the missing signatures were obtained, the proposals were prepared and sent to the council president for formal approval, though Mazzeo had not yet confirmed receipt. Mazzeo said the motions would be tabled by the end of the month, with a decision on whether to present the no‑confidence vote in September or, at the latest, November, and noted that the next municipal elections are scheduled for 2028 unless the situation changes.
At the same time Mazzeo, acting as the Lega’s regional representative for Mimmo Turano, is helping to compile a centre‑right electoral list for the nearby town of Erice together with Simona Mannina, while the rival party Fratelli d’Italia has announced former regional deputy Livio Marrocco as its candidate there.
