Albin Kurti addresses human rights of Albanians in Preševo and Sandžak

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with approximately 70 political and civil society representatives from Albanians in Preševo, Bujanovac, Medveđa, and Sandžak to discuss human rights violations.

Kurti stated that Albanians in these regions face systemic discrimination regarding representation in police forces, courts, administration, and employment, as well as issues with language use and access to public institutions. He emphasized that Kosovo will advocate for the rights and interests of these communities on the international stage.

To provide support, the Kosovo government has implemented several measures, including providing healthcare for patients from these areas and enabling the licensing of health professionals. Additionally, a direct budget line of four million euros has been established to support these communities, with further focus on education, legal professional rights, and documentation.
