Alcaudete launches project to recover traditional agroecological knowledge

The ‘Semillas de memoria’ project has been launched in Alcaudete to recover and reinterpret traditional agroecological knowledge. Driven by the association Iguales en Acción and linked to El Jardín de Castillo, the initiative aims to preserve ancestral wisdom regarding land, water, and seed management before it is lost due to a lack of generational succession.

Supported by the municipalities of Alcaudete and Castillo de Locubín and funded by the Fondo Andaluz de Municipios para la Solidaridad Internacional (FAMSI), the nine-month project utilizes a participatory methodology. The process includes mapping key agents, conducting interviews and life stories, and fostering intergenerational co-creation with young people.

The project also seeks to establish a network of ‘guardians of traditional knowledge’ and promote ‘reverse transfer,’ bringing popular knowledge into academic spheres. This initiative is part of the broader European NOPLANETB project, which supports various climate action efforts.
