Alcohol makers push mini‑bottles as US consumers seek cheaper premium spirits

Major spirit producers, including Jameson (Diageo), Pernod Ricard, Bacardi Limited and the Kendall Jenner‑backed 818 Tequila, are expanding their ranges of 50 ml and 100 ml mini bottles. Data from Bump Williams Consulting, cited by CNN, show that in the first quarter these small formats recorded the fastest growth in market share for brandy and tequila in the United States, as shoppers look for lower‑cost ways to enjoy premium labels.

Pernod Ricard has added a 100 ml Malibu rum, while its mini‑whisky Skrewball and Absolut vodka variants illustrate a broader industry move toward smaller, more affordable packs. The shift comes as overall alcohol sales in the US have stalled, with a 12 % decline reported in the third quarter, prompting firms to target price‑sensitive consumers who prefer the convenience and experimentation possibilities of mini bottles.
