Aleksander Aamodt Kilde suffers Achilles tendon rupture in Chile

Norwegian alpine skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during a downhill training session in Chile. The 34-year-old expressed deep frustration on social media, describing the setback as “brutal” and stating that he feels “devastated, angry, and frustrated.”

Kilde, a prominent speed specialist with 21 World Cup victories in downhill and super-G, has faced a series of significant injuries recently. In January 2024, he sustained serious injuries to his lower leg and shoulder during a race in Wengen. Despite the setback, Kilde noted that he has a clear rehabilitation plan and intends to focus on what he can control.

Following the accident, Kilde returned to Innsbruck for further medical examinations. His injury comes just before the start of the new World Cup season, which begins in Sölden, Austria.
