Alessandro Buongiorno begins rehabilitation at Napoli
Napoli defender Alessandro Buongiorno has begun the second phase of his rehabilitation at the Castel Volturno technical center. Following surgery at Jean Mermoz Private Hospital in Lyon to repair a medial meniscus root in his right knee, the player has transitioned from initial rehabilitation in Turin to gym-based work under the supervision of Napoli's medical staff.
Despite the positive step of returning to the club's facilities, the recovery timeline remains extensive. Reports indicate that the injury is severe, with a potential return to competitive play not expected until early 2027.
His return to the training center also marks the first in-person meeting between Buongiorno and manager Massimiliano Allegri, as previous contact had been limited to telephone conversations. While he remains unable to train with teammates on the pitch, his daily presence at the facility allows him to integrate into the team environment and observe Allegri's working methods.
