Alessandro Buongiorno injury rehabilitation

Overview

Napoli defender Alessandro Buongiorno is undergoing rehabilitation following surgery to repair a medial meniscus root in his right knee. The procedure was performed at Jean Mermoz Private Hospital in Lyon.

After completing the first phase of his recovery at the Institute of Sports Medicine of Turin (IMSTO), Buongiorno transitioned to the second phase of his rehabilitation at Napoli’s Castel Volturno technical center. While he is performing gym-based work under the supervision of the club’s medical staff, he is not yet able to train on the pitch with teammates. His return to the facility facilitated his first in-person meeting with manager Massimiliano Allegri, following previous contact limited to telephone conversations.

While initial projections suggested a return to competitive play around early 2027, more recent updates indicate a potential comeback targeted for January.
