Alessandro Di Battista hospitalized in Rome after emergency surgery in Cuba

Former Movimento 5 Stelle parliamentarian Alessandro Di Battista is undergoing treatment at the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome. He has been hospitalized since Saturday, September 12, following a medical emergency that occurred on August 28 while he was conducting a reportage in Cuba. The incident required emergency surgery in Havana.

Di Battista was transported from Ciampino Airport to the hospital via ambulance. His return to Italy was managed through private insurance and involved a specialized low-altitude flight to mitigate health risks related to cabin pressurization.

No official medical bulletins are being released, in accordance with the explicit requests of his family. The association ‘Schierarsi’ has also appealed to the public and media to respect his privacy and refrain from visiting the hospital or disseminating unauthorized photos and videos to allow the family tranquility.
