Alessandro Di Battista reveals brain tumor diagnosis and surgery

Former Five Star Movement deputy Alessandro Di Battista has revealed he underwent surgery for a brain tumor. The condition was discovered following significant cerebral edema while he was in Cuba in late August.

Di Battista stated that medical professionals in Cuba performed a life-saving intervention that removed most of the tumor. He noted that he must now undergo further therapeutic treatments. Due to his health situation, he has announced a temporary suspension of all political candidacy projects to focus on his recovery.

Following the diagnosis, Di Battista reported receiving a personal phone call from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The medical complexity of his case involved managing cerebral edema, a condition where fluid accumulates in brain tissue due to increased vascular permeability caused by a tumor.
