Alessio Romagnoli's move to Al Sadd stalls; remains with Lazio

Alessio Romagnoli’s transfer to Qatari club Al Sadd, which had been close to completion with a €3 million fee for Lazio and a three‑year contract worth €6 million per season, has been put on hold. The pause is linked to a series of external issues: the death of Qatar’s former emir, a period of national mourning, and recent conflict‑related disruptions, including an attack on a Qatari oil well. The Qatari sport ministry has prioritized defence spending, leaving the budget for football transfers unavailable, so Al Sadd cannot sign any agreement until the situation is resolved. As a result, Romagnoli was called to the Isokinetic centre for medical examinations and has been reintegrated into Lazio’s pre‑season camp under coach Gennaro Gattuso, with a scheduled visit to Formello for further tests. His agent, Vincenzo Raiola, confirmed that there is no set deadline for the transfer and that a future with Lazio is not being considered at the moment.
