Alessio Romagnoli's Al Sadd Move Delayed by New Qatar Foreign-Player Limits

Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli's planned move from Lazio to Qatari club Al Sadd has been delayed. The clubs agreed a €3 million transfer fee and a three‑year contract worth €6 million net per season for the 31‑year‑old.

The transfer is blocked by fiscal and bureaucratic hurdles, the recent death of Qatar’s former emir, and a new Qatar Stars League regulation that limits the number of foreign players a team may field and register. Al Sadd also changed coach, appointing Razvan Lucescu after Roberto Mancini’s departure. The club expects a decision within the next 72 hours, by Tuesday.
