Alex Bregman hits three home runs to lead Cubs over Nationals
Alex Bregman recorded his first career three-home run game, driving in a career-high seven runs to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 12-6 victory over the Washington Nationals. The veteran third baseman hit home runs in three consecutive at-bats during the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Bregman’s performance marks a significant offensive turnaround in his first season with the Cubs. Since July 27, he has recorded 26 hits and six home runs in 16 games, the highest hit total in the Major Leagues during that period. The Cubs have won eight of their last nine games and currently hold a 71-50 record, moving within three games of the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
Other notable contributors for Chicago included Dansby Swanson, who hit a home run and a double, and Seiya Suzuki, who recorded two hits and two RBIs.
