Alexander Blessin nears Borussia Mönchengladbach coaching role
Alexander Blessin is reportedly the frontrunner to become the new head coach of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach. Following a poor start to the season where the team has earned zero points and conceded 16 goals in four matches, sporting director Rouven Schröder confirmed that the club has reached a verbal agreement with a new coach.
While the club has not officially named the individual, media reports and social media activity suggest Blessin, the former FC St. Pauli coach, is the preferred candidate. Negotiations are reportedly in the final stages to resolve remaining details, which may include a potential transfer fee owed to FC St. Pauli, as Blessin was only released from his previous contract in June.
The new appointment faces an immediate challenge, with a derby against 1. FC Köln scheduled following the international break.
