Alexander Blessin wins debut with Borussia Mönchengladbach
Alexander Blessin has secured a winning start in his debut as the new head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach. In a friendly match against Regionalliga side Sportfreunde Siegen, the team achieved a 3-0 victory with goals from Robin Hack, Shuto Machino, and a second strike by Machino.
Blessin, who previously played for Sportfreunde Siegen between 2006 and 2008, utilized a three-man defensive line during the match. The victory also saw the return of Yukhym Konoplia, who is recovering from a medial collateral ligament injury. Despite the win, Blessin has opted to maintain a scheduled four-day break for the players to allow them to clear their heads following a difficult period for the club.
Former Gladbach player and Blessin's former mentor, Winfried Schäfer, expressed confidence in the new appointment. Schäfer praised Blessin’s ambition and organizational skills, noting that his ability to provide stability and intensity is exactly what the club requires as they sit at the bottom of the Bundesliga.
