Liverpool attackers Isak and Gakpo injured during international break

Liverpool FC faces an attacking crisis following injuries to key forwards Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo during the international break.

Alexander Isak sustained a thigh injury while playing for Sweden in a Nations League match against Romania. Swedish coach Graham Potter confirmed the injury is not serious but stated Isak would miss Sweden’s remaining fixtures to ensure a full recovery.

Cody Gakpo suffered an ankle injury during the Netherlands’ match against Serbia. After being substituted in the 17th minute following a heavy tackle, Gakpo returned to Liverpool for medical assessments. While initial reports suggest the injury may not be severe, injury experts have raised concerns regarding a potential high ankle sprain or syndesmosis injury, which could result in a recovery period ranging from several weeks to over two months.

The timing of these injuries is critical for Liverpool, as the club is scheduled to face Manchester City on October 11.
