Alexander Volkanovski eyes rematch with Ilia Topuria

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has expressed interest in a rematch against Ilia Topuria, provided the bout is for the lightweight title. Following a successful title defense in Abu Dhabi where he knocked out Movsar Evloev, Volkanovski has solidified his standing as a premier martial artist.

Volkanovski previously lost his featherweight title to Topuria in 2024. While he has identified a potential high-profile fight against Justin Gaethje as a major goal, he noted that facing Topuria again would be “fantastic” if it involves moving up in weight classes.

Despite his recent dominance, several obstacles remain for a Topuria rematch, including Topuria's own title status and the depth of the lightweight division, which includes contenders such as Charles Oliveira and Diego Lopes.
