Alexander Zverev reaches ATP number one following US Open victory
Alexander Zverev has ascended to the number one position in the ATP Race following a highly successful 2026 season, highlighted by his victory at the US Open and a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. His performance has allowed him to overtake Jannik Sinner, who currently sits in second place, and Carlos Alcaraz, who has dropped to fourth.
Zverev has already secured his qualification for the ATP Finals in Turin. Other players nearing or having secured qualification include Ben Shelton, who holds third place in the race, and Flavio Cobolli.
Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner has returned to training in Monte Carlo after a period of absence due to a right knee injury that caused him to miss several major tournaments, including the US Open. Sinner aims to return to competitive play during the upcoming Asian swing, specifically targeting the ATP 500 in Beijing and the Shanghai Masters 1000.
