Alexandre de Moraes issues rulings regarding Bolsonaro family and legal proceedings

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has issued several rulings affecting former President Jair Bolsonaro and his associates. Moraes authorized a private tutor to visit Bolsonaro at his residence to provide mathematics and chemistry lessons to his youngest daughter, Laura, as part of her schooling while he serves house arrest.

Additionally, Moraes granted permission for Flávio and Carlos Bolsonaro to visit Filipe Martins, a former presidential aide currently serving a 21-year sentence in Paraná for his role in the January 8 coup attempt. Other authorized visitors include influencer Barbara Destefani and state deputy Ricardo Arruda. These visits must adhere to the security protocols of the Ponta Grossa Public Prison.

In other legal developments, Moraes withdrew two cases from the Supreme Court's virtual docket regarding January 8 defendants seeking sentence reductions based on time served under precautionary measures. This follows a previous ruling where the court majority, led by a divergence from Justice Cristiano Zanin, allowed such time to be deducted from final sentences.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court concluded public hearings to discuss the Anti-Faction Law, aimed at combating organized crime. Moraes, acting as the rapporteur, is gathering contributions from various legal authorities to inform upcoming judgments on the law's constitutionality.
