Alexandre de Moraes upholds Eduardo Bolsonaro conviction and sets Jair Bolsonaro visitation rules

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has voted to uphold the conviction of former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro to four years and two months in prison. The conviction involves coercion during legal proceedings related to his alleged attempts to pressure American authorities to interfere in investigations regarding the attempted coup in Brazil.

Separately, Justice Moraes authorized specific visitation rights for five family members of former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is currently serving house arrest. The visits are restricted to Wednesdays and Saturdays during designated time slots. Michelle Bolsonaro, a candidate for the Senate, criticized the decision, stating that the restrictions are too tight and hinder her ability to conduct political campaigns while her family members are unavailable to care for the former president.

Additionally, Federal Police are investigating the management of funds for the documentary ‘Dark Horse,’ a biography of Jair Bolsonaro. The investigation focuses on whether Eduardo Bolsonaro directed illicit financing in the United States involving banker Daniel Vorcaro.
