Alexandre Knoploch displays firearm during confrontation with PSol militants

On Monday, September 28, state deputy Alexandre Knoploch (PL-RJ) was involved in a confrontation with militants from the campaign of state deputy Flávio Serafini (PSol-RJ) in the Tijuca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro.

Video footage shows Knoploch placing his hand near a firearm at his waist during a verbal dispute. Serafini's campaign alleges that Knoploch used pepper spray and attempted to intimidate activists. Knoploch, however, claims he was reacting to being surrounded by five people after complaining about a campaign song that mentioned Flávio Bolsonaro. He admitted to using pepper spray but maintained that the firearm shown was legal and that he did not draw it.

The Serafini campaign has filed a police report at the 19th DP and intends to submit a criminal complaint to the Electoral Court. They are also seeking a court injunction to prevent Knoploch from approaching campaign committees or members.
