Alexandria hosts African Beach Volleyball Championship
The African Beach Volleyball Championship for men and women has commenced in Alexandria, Egypt. The tournament features 46 teams representing 28 African nations, including Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, and Algeria.
This championship serves as a critical qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The competition includes 24 men's teams and 22 women's teams divided into various groups. Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation, emphasized the high level of competition due to the Olympic stakes.
Local authorities in Alexandria, led by Governor Ayman Attia, have increased readiness levels across executive agencies to host the event. Preparations are focused on the Abu Haif beach area to ensure cleanliness and proper facilities for the participating delegations, aiming to promote sports tourism in the region.
