African Beach Volleyball Championship Results

The African Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, concluded with Morocco and Nigeria securing qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

In the men’s division, Morocco’s Zouheir Elgraoui and Soufiane El Gharouti successfully defended their continental title. After advancing to the final by defeating Tunisia 2-0, Morocco secured the gold medal by defeating Algeria’s Kallouche Mohamed-Islem and Ayyoub Dekkiche in straight sets (21-19, 21-12). This victory marks Morocco’s fourth consecutive men’s African title.

In the women’s competition, Nigeria achieved its first-ever Olympic beach volleyball qualification. The Nigerian duo of Esther Onyinye Mbah and Pamela Miyoum Bawa claimed the gold medal by defeating Morocco’s Alexandra Erhart and Nora Nezha Jihane Darrhar in straight sets (21-18, 21-11). This victory ended a 16-year wait for the nation.

Host nation Egypt faced a difficult tournament, with its teams failing to secure any medals or Olympic qualification spots. The Egyptian women’s team finished in fourth place following a loss to Mozambique in the bronze medal match. The tournament, held at Abu Heif Beach, featured 45 teams representing 28 African nations.
