Alexandroupoli 16‑year‑old hospitalized after excessive alcohol consumption, mother arrested

A 16‑year‑old girl was taken to the University General Hospital of Alexandroupoli after consuming a large amount of alcohol in the dry zone of the city’s port. The girl's 48‑year‑old mother was detained on charges of exposing a minor to danger under article 306 of the Penal Code, and the Central Coast Guard of Alexandroupoli is conducting a pre‑investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

After the hospitalization, some media outlets circulated an unverified claim that the teenager had died. The family, through the mother, confirmed that the girl is alive and in good health, and the mother was released following a verbal order from the Prosecutor's Office. Authorities continue to investigate the source of the alcohol and any potential violations of laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors.
