Alfa Romeo posts strong H1 2026 sales growth, new model to be built in Melfi
In the first half of 2026 Alfa Romeo, part of Stellantis, reported robust worldwide sales gains. Revenue rose 24 % in the United Kingdom, while Asian markets grew 50 %, driven by a 95 % surge in Japan. Mexico contributed a 90 % increase after the Junior compact SUV debuted there. The Junior is now sold in 45 countries and the brand’s overall presence spans 70 markets, with battery‑electric versions accounting for 16 % of its mix.
CEO Santo Ficili said the period “confirms the strength of the path we have taken” and highlighted the Junior’s performance, the popularity of high‑performance models such as the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the brand’s global community. In parallel, Stellantis announced that a new Alfa Romeo model will begin production at the Melfi plant in Italy by the end of 2027. The announcement prompted a meeting at Palazzo Chigi with Italian ministers and the president of Basilicata to discuss the automotive project alongside broader regional development, energy autonomy and industrial investment plans.
