Stellantis expands Brazil SUV line, Europe sales surge
Overview
Stellantis continues its 2026‑27 SUV rollout, adding the Fiat Grizzly compact C‑SUV and preparing the Brazil‑built Argo X for 2026. Production of the Grizzly will be in Morocco, while the Argo X will use the Grand Panda platform at Betim, employing locally‑adapted flex‑fuel engines. Both models are part of Fiat’s Fastlane 2030 programme, which pledges a new model each year through 2030 and is underpinned by a R$ 32 billion South‑American investment, including R$ 14 billion to expand Betim capacity to 680 000 units and create about 1 200 jobs. The plan was highlighted during Fiat’s 50‑year anniversary in Brazil, where Stellantis announced the yearly‑model rollout and a pending partnership with China’s Dongfeng to bring Peugeot and Jeep vehicles to Brazil by the end of 2028.
In Europe, Fiat posted a 21.7 % year‑on‑year increase in registrations in the first half of 2026, lifting its EU‑29 market share to 3.3 % and strengthening its lead in Italy (12.6 %). Growth was driven by the newer Grande Panda, updated 500/600 models and strong EV sales—79 000 units, up 77.7 %—and was reflected in regional spikes such as a 74.5 % rise in Serbia. The expanding SUV line, Brazilian investment and European sales momentum build on earlier H1‑2026 gains and underline Stellantis’ multi‑regional growth strategy.
