Alfa Romeo to shift Giulia and Stelvio production to manual assembly

Stellantis is reorganizing production for the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio models at its Cassino plant in Italy. The manufacturing process will shift from high-volume assembly lines to a more manual approach in a specialized area known as Fabbricato 0, mirroring production methods used by Ferrari.

This shift follows a significant decline in total plant output. According to union data, production at the Cassino facility fell from 135,263 vehicles in 2017 to an estimated 26,800 in 2024, with further decreases projected for 2025. The new strategy focuses on smaller, more precise production series rather than high-volume shifts. Current generations of the Giulia and Stelvio are expected to continue production until at least the end of 2027.
