Alfambra residents protest proposed biogas macro-plant
The STOP Biogás Alfambra neighborhood association held an information session to express opposition to a proposed biogas macro-plant in the municipality of Alfambra. Residents gathered in the Plaza de Montegaudio to discuss the project's evolution and its potential administrative status.
Key concerns raised by the association include the scale of the facility, its proximity to urban centers, and its closeness to water resources such as the Sabucar spring and the Tolmo ravine. Residents also cited potential increases in heavy vehicle traffic and negative impacts on local health and the environment.
The group emphasized that their opposition is not directed at biogas technology or renewable energy in general, but specifically at the location and characteristics of this project. They expressed concern that the plant could jeopardize other strategic local developments, such as a new senior residence, which is seen as vital for attracting population and employment to the area.
