Chilean elderly victims targeted in violent robberies and kidnapping

Chilean authorities are investigating two separate violent crimes targeting elderly individuals.

In Las Condes, television journalist Alfredo Lamadrid, 83, and his 71-year-old wife were victims of a home invasion. Three assailants entered the residence by breaking a perimeter gate and forcing a living room window. The victims were intimidated with knives and blunt objects while the suspects stole jewelry and watches valued at approximately 10 million pesos. The perpetrators fled in a waiting vehicle when the couple's son arrived. The PDI is conducting the investigation.

In a separate incident in Quillón, a married couple aged 74 and 69 were kidnapped after being assaulted in their home. The criminals held the victims at gunpoint and waited for banks to open before transporting them to Concepción. The man was forced to withdraw money from a bank branch, while his wife was later abandoned on a rural road in Florida. The robbery is estimated at 70 million pesos. Police have recovered the vehicles used in the crime.
