Algar Telecom expands cloud services and prioritizes sovereign data in Brazil

Algar Telecom is expanding its Cloud Plus corporate cloud computing solution across Brazil, specifically targeting the South and Northeast regions. The expansion includes the implementation of new regional structures and the modernization of existing data centers in Uberlândia (MG) and São Paulo (SP). The service aims to reduce latency and provide cost predictability by offering billing in Brazilian reais, avoiding foreign exchange fluctuations.

Zaima Milazzo, Director of Products and Technology at Algar Telecom, emphasized that the company is prioritizing the strengthening of a “sovereign cloud” with 100% Brazilian-based operations to enhance data security and sovereignty. Additionally, the company is focusing on its partnership with Starlink to provide satellite internet services to corporate clients and investing in digital security. Regarding future technologies, the company is taking a cautious approach toward 6G, preferring to focus on monetizing current assets while global standards for 6G are still being established.
