Algarve hosts summer food festivals and cultural events

The Algarve region is hosting a variety of summer festivals and gastronomic events throughout the first weekend of August. Key celebrations include the Festival da Sardinha in Portimão, featuring traditional grilled sardines, regional crafts, and free concerts by performers such as Némanus and Átoa. In Faro, the 30th edition of the Festa da Ria Formosa celebrates regional seafood with live music including Jorge Guerreiro and Belito.

Other local festivities include the Festa da Sardinha in Olhos d’Água, Albufeira, which offers traditional dances and dining, and the Aljezur ConVida program in the Costa Vicentina, featuring cultural shows and magic performances.

Complementing these events, the region's culinary scene remains centered on grilled fish. Notable dining options include Tintol in Faro, which offers a fish buffet (rodízio) including sardines, sea bream, and tuna, and A Grelha do Ti-Manuel in Albufeira, which specializes in charcoal-grilled seafood such as mackerel, salmon, and sea bass.
