Algeria and Niger form strategic public works partnership
Algeria and Niger have established a strategic partnership focused on the public works sector to strengthen regional infrastructure. On September 3 in Algiers, officials from the Nigerien Ministry of Equipment and the Algerian Ministry of Basic Infrastructure initiated a joint action plan.
The agreement emphasizes the transfer of engineering expertise and technical training. This cooperation aims to modernize Niger's management of large-scale projects by utilizing Algerian know-how in construction and infrastructure management, reducing reliance on external dependencies.
This partnership is intended to support economic development in the Sahel by improving Niger's merchant networks and optimizing trans-Saharan corridors. Expected benefits include improved road networks, better access to markets for rural areas, and the creation of skilled jobs.
