Algeria international cooperation and Niger infrastructure
Overview
Algeria is pursuing dual tracks of international cooperation involving anti-corruption efforts and regional infrastructure development. In Vienna, Algerian representatives participated in the 17th session of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) review group to showcase progress in combating money laundering and terrorism financing following the country’s removal from the FATF grey list.
Concurrently, Algeria and Niger have established a strategic partnership to strengthen public works and infrastructure in the Sahel. Following high-level meetings in Algiers, the two nations signed several agreements to facilitate the transfer of technical expertise and engineering training. This cooperation involves specialized bodies such as Algeria’s National Technical Control Body for Public Works and Niger’s Public Works Quality Center. The initiative aims to modernize Niger’s management of large-scale projects and optimize trans-Saharan corridors to support economic development and market access.
