Algeria and Tunisia host cultural initiatives in cinema and literature
Algeria and Tunisia are hosting several cultural initiatives focused on cinema and literary heritage. In Algeria, the Ministry of Culture and Arts has launched a program of twelve national premieres. Running until December 26 at the Cinémathèque d’Alger and the Opéra Boualem Bessaïh, the cycle aims to reconnect Algerian films with the public. The program includes short films such as ‘La malédiction du sang’ and upcoming feature films like ‘Le regret’ and ‘Algérie pour toujours 2’.
In Tunisia, the Rio Cinema in Tunis is hosting a multidisciplinary event dedicated to the life and work of Mahmoud Messaâdi, a prominent Tunisian thinker, writer, and former Minister of Culture. The tribute includes lectures, readings, and theatrical performances to explore his intellectual legacy.
Additionally, the Tunisian Federation of Cine-Clubs (FTCC) is organizing the ‘Assises des Ciné-Clubs’ in Tunis. This two-day event, themed ‘Reinventing the School of the Gaze,’ focuses on the evolution of film clubs, the transmission of cinematic knowledge, and the development of the FTCC Academy to better train facilitators in a changing audiovisual landscape.
