Algeria creates 1,366 youth posts; Niger supports 440 young workers

Algeria's Ministry of Youth announced the creation of 1,366 new budget positions for young people living in border provinces and the country's southern regions. The posts are split between the 2025 and 2026 recruitment cycles and will be filled through a competitive exam for candidates from the listed wilayas. The programme follows a presidential directive to strengthen youth support and local development.

In Niger, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture presented two pilot programmes aimed at rural and graduate youth. More than 440 young people have benefited through Economic Interest Groups and the digital platform kofar Aiki, which was developed with UNDP support. The initiatives provide training, equipment and job‑search assistance to improve employability and foster income‑generating activities across the eight regions of the country.
