Algeria dismantles international drug network with record seizures
Algerian authorities have dismantled a major international drug trafficking network following a seven-month investigation. The operation, described by the Direction générale de la Sûreté nationale (DGSN) as the largest of its kind in a single intervention, resulted in the seizure of approximately 10.4 million Pregabalin capsules and 33.4 kg of cocaine.
Law enforcement officials identified a criminal structure involving roughly 50 individuals. To date, 25 suspects have been arrested and placed in provisional detention, while others remain at large. The network reportedly included members of various nationalities, including Algerian, Moroccan, and Dutch.
Investigations revealed that the illicit activity was directed by drug traffickers based in Morocco. The organization utilized members in Dubai to manage and transfer criminal proceeds, and reportedly had accomplices in France. The seizures were carried out across several Algerian provinces, including Oran, Algiers, Blida, and Tipaza.
