Algerian narcotics enforcement operations

Overview

Algerian authorities, through the Central Service for the Fight Against Illicit Drug Trafficking (SCLTIS), dismantled a major international drug trafficking network. The operation, which resulted from seven months of intelligence work beginning in January, led to the arrest of 25 individuals across several provinces, including Oran, Tizi Ouzou, Algiers, Blida, and Tipasa.

Seized substances included approximately 10.4 million Pregabalin capsules and 33.4 kg of cocaine. Investigations revealed the criminal organization was directed by Moroccan drug barons and utilized members in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to manage and transfer illicit funds, with additional accomplices located in France.

The Direction générale de la Sûreté nationale (DGSN) described the operation as the largest of its kind in a single intervention. Law enforcement officials identified a criminal structure involving roughly 50 individuals; while 25 suspects have been arrested and placed in provisional detention, others remain at large. The network reportedly included members of various nationalities, including Algerian, Moroccan, and Dutch.
