Algeria expands energy partnerships with South Africa and Chad
Algeria is expanding its energy diplomacy through strategic partnerships in Africa. A South African delegation, including representatives from the South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC) and the South African Petroleum Agency (PASA), is currently in Algiers for a week-long visit to strengthen energy cooperation.
The visit follows high-level discussions between President Cyril Ramaphosa and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The delegation will hold technical workshops and meetings with major Algerian institutions, including Sonatrach, ALNAFT, and the Algerian Institute of Petroleum (IAP), to develop a strategic partnership based on South-South cooperation.
Simultaneously, Algeria is conducting a technical mission in Chad to bolster expertise in the hydrocarbons sector. An Algerian delegation comprising experts from the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH) and the Algerian Institute of Petroleum (IAP) is working with Chad’s downstream regulator, ARSAT. This mission focuses on skill transfers and institutional capacity building to modernize Chad’s petroleum sector.
