Algeria introduces new regulations for private schools

Algeria has introduced executive decree n° 26-310 to regulate private educational institutions and end irregular practices. The new regulations establish stricter conditions for accreditation, operational procedures, and oversight.

Key measures include the mandatory respect of official national school programs, standardized tuition fee frameworks, and improved monitoring of academic results. The decree aims to align private school management with the national education system and constitutional requirements. Yazid Bouanane of the National Autonomous Council of High School Principals noted that the measures are intended to increase transparency and address long-standing criticisms from parents and educators regarding the lack of oversight in the private sector.
