Tunisia heat wave forecast to hit up to 45°C

Meteorologists warn that a strong heat wave will affect Tunisia and parts of Algeria from early July through mid‑July 2026. Temperatures are expected to rise 6‑10 °C above seasonal normals, with inland areas reaching 40‑45 °C and isolated spots up to 45 °C, while coastal zones will stay cooler at 34‑39 °C. The hot air mass originates from the Sahara and is accompanied by sirocco winds, increasing the risk of rapid vegetation drying and wildfires.

Health authorities advise vulnerable groups – the elderly, children, people with chronic illnesses and outdoor workers – to limit exposure during the hottest parts of the day, stay hydrated and seek cooler environments. The public is urged to follow official weather bulletins for updates and to take precautions against heat‑related illnesses.
