Algeria targets economic diversification and energy transition by 2030

Algeria is pursuing a multi-faceted strategy to strengthen national sovereignty and diversify its economy through 2030. The country is focusing on reducing its dependence on hydrocarbons by expanding manufacturing, mining, and tourism. Key economic targets include raising manufacturing to 12% of GDP and increasing tourism's contribution to 3% of GDP.

In the energy sector, Algeria aims to leverage its solar potential to reach 15,000 MW of renewable capacity by 2035 and is developing a national strategy for renewable hydrogen to serve domestic and European markets. Additionally, the government is prioritizing water security through the construction of desalination plants to combat water stress.

On the security front, the People's National Army (ANP) remains central to maintaining national stability and sovereignty. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has emphasized that the nation's security is a result of strategic vision, particularly in securing borders and combating terrorism amidst a changing regional and international landscape.
