Algerian Government reviews food price regulation and housing laws

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb presided over a government meeting to address several key sectors, including domestic trade, agriculture, housing, and professional training. A primary focus was placed on regulating the national market for essential food and agricultural products to ensure availability and affordability.

To protect consumer purchasing power, the government is delegating market regulation mechanisms to local walis. This strategy involves coordinating with central administrations to monitor the distribution of goods from producers to consumers and includes a crackdown on illegal speculation through cooperation with security and judicial services.

Additionally, the meeting addressed a draft law concerning housing in forested areas. Developed by an expert workshop following presidential instructions, this legislation aims to establish safety standards to protect people and property from fire risks. The government also reviewed new technical and architectural standards for the professional training and education sector.
