Algerian Red-Notice Suspect Arrested in Morocco
Moroccan security forces detained an Algerian national on 25 June 2026 after receiving a red‑notice from Interpol. The suspect, wanted by Algerian authorities for alleged drug‑trafficking involvement, was found in possession of forged residence documents. The operation uncovered a wider network that produces falsified passports, certificates and other papers used to obtain illegal residence permits in Morocco. Between 25 and 26 June, five additional Algerian nationals linked to the scheme were arrested. Searches seized multiple foreign passports, ten counterfeit stamps, a laptop, phones, two vehicles, a cheque book and significant cash believed to be proceeds of the fraud. The six detainees are in police custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor while investigations continue into the scope of the falsification operation and any connections to drug‑trafficking activities.
