Algeria's Tébessa seeks to revive unused youth entrepreneurship centers
The Algerian government is addressing the long‑standing underuse of youth entrepreneurship centres built in the early 2000s to combat youth unemployment. In Tébessa, where many of the facilities remain vacant or abandoned, local officials held a coordination meeting to diagnose physical conditions, financing gaps and administrative hurdles. The provincial governor called for continuous field monitoring and simplified procedures to attract young entrepreneurs and investors.
Authorities plan to conduct a detailed assessment of the buildings, accelerate the preparation of lease specifications and launch new rental processes for sites in Doukane, Houari‑Boumediene and Bab Zayatine. Some centres may be repurposed as community sports facilities to provide youth with new spaces while preventing further decay. The initiative aims to transform these idle public assets into engines of local economic activity and job creation.
