Spain political activity intensifies across regional and local levels

Various local and regional political developments are unfolding across Spain. In Barcelona, Alberto Núñez Feijóo is launching a major pre-campaign event for the Partido Popular, emphasizing the strategic importance of Catalonia in the upcoming general elections on November 29.

Local political tensions are rising in several municipalities. In Xàtiva, the PP has named Marcos Sanchis as its candidate for the 2027 mayoral race, criticizing current management. In Biescas, Nuria Pargada will lead the PP candidacy to reclaim the mayoralty. Meanwhile, in Sant Antoni, local police are protesting against the municipal government, and in El Paso, the PP is questioning the transparency of service contracts.

Other regional issues include the PSOE in Facinas denouncing social media censorship by the local mayor, and the PSOE in Algete demanding information regarding a large-scale urban development project. In Puerto de la Cruz, administrative delays have left 44 vulnerable children without free school meals, while in Talavera, the municipal government has clashed with the PSOE over the legalities of providing aid to those affected by recent hailstorms.
