Alghero administration defends municipal career progression changes

The administration of Alghero, led by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, has addressed criticisms regarding recent vertical career progressions within the municipal workforce. Officials stated that the restructuring aims to harmonize office operations and implement mandate programmatic lines through new hires and a dedicated fund of approximately 270,000 euros for additional remuneration.

In response to employee dissatisfaction, the administration clarified that vertical progression procedures have been legally available since 2021 under national decree-law n. 80. The local government maintains that these measures are intended to improve career advancement, continuous training, and overall working conditions.
