Alghero political dispute over municipal employee promotions

Political tension has escalated in Alghero regarding the procedures for the vertical progression of municipal employees. The debate centers on the criteria used for selecting technical officials within the Environmental Protection and Valorization service.

Members of Forza Italia, including Marco Tedde, Antonello Peru, Lina Bardino, and Nina Ansini, have criticized the current evaluation system. They argue that the process relies too heavily on discretionary assessments, noting that written tests and interviews account for 60 out of 80 possible points, while actual professional service contributes a maximum of only 5 points. They are calling for clearer, objective, and verifiable criteria to prevent administrative discretion from becoming unchecked.

In response, Europa Verde councilors Giampietro Moro and Beatrice Podda have accused Forza Italia of hypocrisy. They claim the party uses systematic access to administrative records to pressure municipal offices, yet shifts its stance to support employee interests only when career advancements are at stake. They questioned why Forza Italia did not implement these progression structures earlier, noting that the possibility for such advancements has existed since 2021.
