Alghero dispute over social‑health district leadership sparks political clash

Fratelli d’Italia representatives accused the regional majority of sidelining Alghero by excluding the city from the presidency and vice‑presidency of the socio‑health district that includes Alghero, Coros, Villanova and Meilogu. They described the move as a political isolation of Alghero amid broader criticism of the Sardinian health system.

Alghero mayor Raimondo Cacciotto rejected the claim, stating that the recent district meeting was conducted in a spirit of full cooperation and resulted in a shared decision. He highlighted that the mayor of Ittiri was appointed president and the mayor of Siligo vice‑president, emphasizing that Alghero is not isolated but working together with other municipalities to ensure social and health services for the community.
