Alghero Municipality acquires historic Fertilia cinema-theater

The Municipality of Alghero has officially acquired the former Fertilia cinema-theater and an adjacent 360-square-meter area for a symbolic price of one euro each. The historic building, constructed in 1936 with a 200-seat capacity, has been abandoned for over thirty years.

The acquisition, formalized in Cagliari, is part of a broader urban regeneration project for the Fertilia district. The administration intends to repurpose the site for tourism and territorial marketing. Funding of 1.9 million euros, originally provided under regional law n. 3/2008, has been secured to support these redevelopment interventions. Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto stated that the acquisition allows the city to work concretely on the rebirth of a site that is central to the history and identity of Fertilia.
