Alghero officials deny privatization plans for Secal
The administration of Alghero has denied rumors regarding the privatization of Secal, the municipal company responsible for managing local tax and property revenues. Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto and Finance Councilor Enrico Daga stated that there are no plans to privatize the entity.
Instead, the administration is focused on a strategic plan to increase the company's efficiency and effectiveness. The stated goal is to achieve 'effective fiscal equity' by ensuring rigorous collection of municipal credits and protecting public resources to fund community services, maintenance, and social policies.
These clarifications follow accusations from political opponents, including Fratelli d'Italia, claiming that the municipality owes Secal over 300,000 euros in arrears. The Mayor emphasized that improving collection efficiency is essential for ensuring that honest citizens are not unfairly burdened by the costs of public services.
